What is TRE?

TRE is a set of exercises which are designed to evoke muscular shaking in the body, commonly referred to as neurogenic tremors.  TRE is a simple process, proven effective in restoring the human spirit.  TRE is not related to yoga nor is it specific to any culture or belief system.  TRE is an organic method of healing the mind-body complex in all human beings.

 

How does TRE work?

Neurogenic tremors are elicited from the body's center of gravity which is protected by the psoas muscles.  The shaking process helps release tension in our muscles, in turn relaxing the fight-or-flight response in our minds.   When tension is released anywhere in the body, the brain produces hormones of relaxation and comfort.  Deep relaxation naturally reduces stress levels and increases the resiliency of the body.

 

Is TRE for me?

TRE is for everyone.  TRE was originally developed to address the impacts of traumatic experiences on the body.  Painful experiences, stress and tension are part of everybody's life.  Lack of attention and healing when faced with traumatic experiences can produce symptoms, reactions and behaviors similar to those clinically diagnosed with PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder).  TRE is particularly beneficial to people who work in trauma inducing professions: police, firefighters, emergency response teams, military, domestic violence councelors, doctors, nurses and emergency room personnel.  Ultimately, TRE is for anyone who wants to feel better about their life and improve their state of well-being.
